Savvy Navvy brings their ‘savvy’ and simple navigation app to all watersports adventurers with the ‘Google maps for the water’ app, recently going beyond boating navigation and launching functionalities for stand-up paddleboarder users across the globe.
Teaming up with Red Paddle Co in the US, anyone buying the popular inflatable SUP boards will now be pointed towards the benefits of navigation with Savvy Navvy and how to download the app as part of their 5-year warranty. The partnership also ties in as part of Red Paddle Co’s ‘PLOT’ safety programme, promoting water safety for the fastest growing watersport in the USA.
Savvy Navvy makes navigation easier and amalgamates weather, tides, GPS positioning and charts into one handy app, along with a host of other innovative features. Since launching for paddleboarders, jet-skiers and kayakers earlier this year, this market already makes up over 10 per cent of Savvy Navvy’s overall users in the US.
“Savvy Navvy really is as simple as ‘Google Maps for the water’. Savvy charts™ have been built from the ground up, showing essential marine information with a clean and easy-to-view interface with safety and ease of use in mind. With our app SUP’ers never have to worry again about getting caught out in windy conditions, going backwards with the tide, getting lost or paddling into tricky shallow waters. Our weather, wind and tide functions will help new and experienced paddleboarders with increased confidence to get out onto the water safely and they can even plot and share their routes with friends before heading out for safety – exactly in line with what Red Paddle Co are promoting,” says David Cusworth, Head of Innovation and Partnerships at Savvy Navvy.
With more than 3.7 million participants of SUP in the US, Red Paddle Co are working hard to raise awareness of water safety and recently shared its memorable ‘PLOT’ safety rules on their website and will now encourage users to sign up to Savvy Navvy when planning their trips.
“We are pleased to be working with Savvy Navvy to promote the P L O T campaign of paddling safety. We love paddling at Red and we are passionate about spreading the word about safety, so paddlers can expand their horizons and not put undue stress on the rescue services. Ensuring that you are wearing a personal floatation device, are using the right kind of leash for the conditions, avoid paddling in offshore winds and have your (tele)phone with you in case you need to call for help will allow you to paddle further, paddle longer and do it in style and not end up a rescue statistic,” John Hibbard, founder and CEO.
Savvy Navvy has grown rapidly since UK-based Jelte Liebrand and his co-founder Kevin O’Neill launched the marine navigation app five years ago. They are constantly evolving, changing and pushing new innovation of their navigation app based on user feedback. They want to give anyone on the water – whether it’s a paddleboarder, a kayaker, motorboater or someone in a 50ft yacht – access to their platform, which is increasingly popular and today used by around half a million users in 100 countries globally.
Earlier this year, Savvy Navvy launched a free plan exclusively in the US. Features for paddleboarders include;
- Automatic route planning with Savvy routing™
- Opgenomen tracks - een route uitstippelen en delen met je vrienden voor de veiligheid
- Tides - with Savvy tidal graphs that easily shows you tide highs and lows in any given location
- Weersvoorspelling - inclusief functies waarmee u het voorspelde weer voor de hele dag kunt zien om de beste tijd te plannen om te vertrekken voor een vlotte zorgeloze peddel
Savvy Navvy’s premium option includes global maps and enhanced access to other new integrated features such as tidal flow information, satellite overlays, offline charts and greater planning functionalities for just $69.99 a year.
